the front brake does not snap back into place. I have to push it final every time I use it. just wondering what could be causing it and how to fix it.
Quite possibly the master cylinder on the handlebars. Once the bike get old and it has be in the weather a bit the aluminium where the piston travels surrounded by and out can start to corode and cause that kind of problem
Answers: When the liner on the shoes wear down too much the cam that activates them can rotate too far for the springs to return it, if there is plenty of stuff on the shoes and the springs are in good condition (not over-stretched) you might call for to strip it down and clean and grease it – DON'T get grease anywhere fundamental the shoes or the drum for obvious reasons.

clean cables beside white grease or brake cable fluid! also drain your brake line clear out any air within there!
If you're conversation about disc brakes and the bike is more than a few years old -
Brake fluid go bad after a couple of years (it should be changed every year, regardless of how many miles you've ridden).
Bad brake fluid could clog up the master cylinder, preventing fluid from returning freely.
If your bike have a lot of miles on it -
The caliper pistons start to get pitted and allow brake fluid to obtain under the seal.
The brake fluid mixes next to moisture and brake dust and turns into a thick crud like fabric.
The crud build up, presses the seal tighter against the piston, preventing it from returning.
This is a common problem.
Most of the time the caliper is contained by rebuildable condition.
