Help next to my yz?

Hi all, Just bought a yz80 which i've been told is a 1984 model. Can anybody relate me if you have to mix the 2 stroke before putting it surrounded by the tank or if there's a seperate oil reservoir on the bike somewhere? also what ratio would be best to use? I also need to buy some plastics for it but need to know the exact year. Is within anyway of finding out for sure? (this is my first bike) (any other advice to keep it running worthy would be appreciated). Thanks

?? who are your top 5...

I usually mix 2 stroke before. I have never hear of it mixing itself. Call your local bike shop for details or you can always check ebay for plastics.

Pit bike as first bike?

You do own to premix 40:1
The year should be on the neck...

I found Yamilube to be the best 2-stoke mix...

First things first fella.

Change oil, drain gas, verbs air filter (if there is one).

Spray Berrymans B-12 Chemtool LIGHTLY into carb and crowd it up. Wait 30 minutes, remove bolt under carb and drain the goo that comes out.

Now mix yourself ONE gallon of gas with 4 oz of any 2 stroke grease. I like Caster Oil for the way it smells, and other mix at 32 to 1. SHAKE THE MIXTURE WELL. Pour about 1/2 quart into tank.

Turn the gas on.

Kick bike a few times next to NO throttle.
Kick a few times with some throttle.
Lift Choke lever on carb and kick bike till you overrun out or it starts.

Your lovely gem is not worth a lot, so don't turn crazy on the repair bill.

This bike is a good way for you to swot patience and the value of booklet.

Always keep at least a 12 pac contained by the fridge when you call someone who KNOWS what they are doing to help you start the screaming demon.

Good luck and do not surplus more than $200 in repairs.

1979 Cossack Voskhod..?

man! that's alot of questions!

first stale, a YZ80 is a 2 stroke, and it does not have a separate oil cistern (those never had an oil injection pump / tank)... so you will entail to mix oil in your gas. I would recommend getting a honourable synthetic or synthetic blend motorcycle racing 2 stroke oil (like Golden Spectro, Bel-Ray, etc.) from a local bike shop. you should know how to run it 40:1 ratio if you plan on riding it hard (like riding WFO on a MX track) or if just trail riding and occasionally hitting higher RPMs mix at 50:1 ... in other words at 40:1, mix 3.2 ounces to a gallon of gas, at 50:1 mix 2.6 ounces to a gallon of gas. (if using a cheaper non-synthetic 2 stroke grease, might need to mix at 32:1)

as for year model, if it's truly a 1980s bike, look in front of the radiator shrouds, typically on the throttle side, near should either be a label or metal stamping on the frame nouns. not sure on a bike that old but seems close to I remember they would actually have year of construction there, if not, look at the 9 or 10th digit of the VIN, should be an alpha role, and the L is a 1984, M is 1985, N is 1986, etc.

check out http://www.bikebandit.com/ and http://www.powersportspro.com/ for parts diagrams when looking for specific parts as a quick reference.

silver the oil regularly, and clean & grease the air filter after every couple of rides depending on how dusty the conditions are... probably other things but that's it for now.

Is it ok to place my inspection...

Answers:    Have you looked under the seat for the grease tank? failing that, there may be one contained by the side casing.
if not, next you'll have to mix it.
As for the year, ring a dealership & give them the frame number .

On a motorcycle or quad bike what...

i had a yz125 1980 2 stroke an you have to mix the oil 25:1 with the fuel so i am guessing that they should be equal.
u wud be best using synthetic oil because it is more dense, it feeds through better. even when you do mix it beside your fuel and your not ment to it wont break the engine it will just run to lean and smoke alot.
