Answers: Depends how rough the road/trail is- technically its illeagal to ride the roads with a snowmobile - not to mention accelerate wear on the track chassis sliders ( due to no lubrication from snow).
Ive had my used 79 500cc aircooled ( near rebuilt motor)Arctic Cat El tigre up to around 80mph on a flat snow covered road up surrounded by Adirondaks ( thats pretty much top end for it) - my dad have a 88 650cc liquidcooled Arctic Cat Wildcat ( new) - i had that up to around 100mph on matching road - needless to voice it was pretty hirsute and bumpy that fast , even on a flat road.
Trail riding thru woods an stuff, without a doubt need to heed care, as well as all-embracing open field - for hidden fence, holes, junk beneath the snow.
Keep in mind, the more you declare your snowmobile, the better it will run - they are maintenece hogs.
Before snowmobile season - tear it apart, clean/grease/replace parts.
During the season - every couple weeks or back a long trail ride go over it.
After season over - drain fuel, clean carbs, grease suspension, cash worn parts.
