Answers: Well biking is close to art, because everyone has their own interpretation on whats the right bike to ride. Really your the only one that can answer that press by just jumping on one and riding it.
I've be riding for some years now and I have to be honest. Biking can be terrifying. You have to have eyes within the back of your head. The moment you perceive totally comfortable on a bike is the moment, usually, something bad happens. That's my disclaimer. And yes I enjoy been hit by a car on my bike, and yes it be the one time I was wearing shorts and a tee shirt, and no I didn't dump it amazingly adequate. I got lucky though.
So here's my opinion. Go next to a cruiser. Like a Harley or a Honda. They ride smooth, look great, in my opinion are forgiving surrounded by bad situations and once your wife gets on the posterior and gets the wind contained by her hair she'll be buggin' you to go riding every weekend. Also some proposal: wear protective clothing like leathers,helmet,gloves, and put louder mufflers on your bike. Loud pipes on a bike do grab the attention of that driver that may not otherwise thought you and or run you over. Starting to ride was one of best life choices I made. It's a true passion of freedom. Once you feel it you'll know what I mean. If your wife is worried almost speeding, you should know that it's not about how fast you grasp there, but how enjoyable the ride is.

A Sheriff deputy was also in the showroom and he said he saw more sports car accidents then bikes and that convince her.

When I ride on the highway, I assume that every car I go by or that passes me, doesn't see me and is looking to come into my lane. I'm ready for any move that sports car makes half a second beforehand he makes it.
You have to revise aerodynamics. If you get to close behind a rig, the coil can trap you there. When you pass along side of a rig the twist will pull you closer to the truck at one point and push you away at another. You have to cram all this and have counter balence and movements programmed into your body reflex. You need lots of practice.
People recommend smaller CC bikes for beginners because most newbies are into it for the speed and flashiness of it and often underestimate the seriousness of riding past the worst. The temptation to tap into that power is usually too great to overcome. If you know you can and will respect the bike and get hold of at least 3 thousand miles of practice before hitting the highway, and earlier group rides, then maybe you can start on a 600cc bike. Otherwise, assistance yourself out and start small.

If you already know and twig how to drive a manual transmission, it help learning a motorcycle because it's one less piece you have to focus on when learning. If you can practice discipline and restraint when riding, you may be fine. It's not adjectives fun and games on a sportbike. Even if you ride perfect you need to know how to take action when other cars and bikes and trucks don't drive so perfect.
