why is it that the specifications on a motorcycle never mention the bhp. Is there a method to calculate it from something else?
Answers: It can be estimated from the HP, but can't be calculated - merely measured.
Do a search or ask on a relevant board for that bike. Magazines close to 'BIKE' or the used bike guide in the UK hold bhp figures for a little bikes. Alternatively, if you already have a bike, go and get it on a dyno.
I *think* the reason they don't include it is it's due to a quantity of factors - any element of the drive from the engine to the wheel can shrink the bhp - so it's not as useful and reliable an indication of the engine's 'power' as HP.
