I'm concerned about getting a motorcycle partially because i live contained by an apartment building meaning no parking inside a personal garage. So i was wondering how do you budge about storing your motorcycle on the street. What happens if you go it in the rain/snow? How easy is it to steal. I stingy if regular bikes are easy to steel motor bikes shouldn't be that much harder if i wanted to steal one I'd purely drive a pick up truck right up to it and load it in beside some friends. I was thinking about getting a really crappy cheap prehistoric van like those huge empty white vans beside 2 seats and a lot of stowage room and keeping it inside there. Any suggestions ? Comments? all would be appreciated. - thankfulness

You can take wheel locks and alarms. A lot of guys I knew kept their bikes inside their apartments. Your best bet is to find a rental storage place close by, one that's approachable 24 hours so you can get your baby and ride it when you want. I did that when I live contained by an apartment with my bike.
Even with a cover.. weather can be stern on a bike. You'll have a hard time keeping dew and rainfall / snow out of it and rusting parts (especially the chain)

And you can lock up a van and install a appropriate alarm to deter any thieves. Thieves like unforced, quiet and quick job, so if you make it time consuming and noisy, it deters adjectives but the most determined.
But, if thieves are driving around with thoughts of stealing a bike, they won't even look twice at a beat-up van.

Possible theft deterrents:
- Get a disk lock - locks the front/rear brake disks so its harder to roll away
- Chain one or both wheels to a stationary idea
- Cover it with a motorcycle cover - out of site, out of mind. They know its a bike, but at least they dont know if its nice adequate to be worth taking.
- Motorcycle alarm - get a two way page type. If the alarm on the bike is triggered, it will page the receiver. I recommend Scorpio or Internatrix brand (google it), they have a proximity sensor. If someone get too close to the bike, it can trigger the alarm.

But also keep in mind that motorcylces can be ridden surrounded by the rain, so it is ok to get it drizzling, no big deal. Don't forget to winterize it if you will be storing it for a long time without riding. Battery tender is a must.
