I've had the bike for over a year in a minute. I never noticed a strong gas smell beforehand however that doesn't mean it wasn't here. If it is something with the carbuerator, how long can I save driving on it before getting it fixed? No money for a fixing right very soon!
If you smell gas, it's most predictable from a leak, and a leach can have serious consequences but for addressed.
Trace your fuel lines looking for leak, look around the fitting/s on the gas tank and going into & out of your carb.
While I guess a leak a expected situation, I have have experience with my carb loading up (at unexploited / stopped) and giving off the gas smell. I on the same wavelength my carb & that was that. Depending on what you ride, sometimes the float sticks & this can inflict the loaded up situation too.
Would be your carbs! Does it leak petrol while on its side stand?
I enjoy the same problem ... Its the nozzle in your carbs letting too much fuel surrounded by & then out the overflow tube down onto the crackcase.
Get it fixed ... Nothing worse than the smell of petrol on ur clothes etc etc etc etc
Answers: It could be a fuel leak from the carb or a fuel flash, or it could be a deteriorated gasket from the filler cap on the fuel cistern.
How long can you keep riding? A upright guess is until the motorcycle catches fire from fuel dripping onto a hot exhaust pipe! Spend a few moments looking at your fuel system to see if you can find where on earth the smell (and possible leak) is coming from!
you probably have a fuel bleed look for gas around the carb float bowls.
