Here's are some links for great ideas.
Love your bike. (I enjoy one also.) I saw one that was painted a candy apple red with a slight air of "sparkle" (metal flake?)in it that looked really nice.
paint it any color you like, just not a factory color, that mode it shows a little of your personality

Answers: Depends on how much you're looking to spend - in that are a million variations of each color. And you'll also want to cogitate about the finish too, ie clearcoat, metal flake, pearl, iridescent, that sort of thing.
For the cruiser-style bikes, I've other been partial to two-tone paint jobs. I have a Harley once that I had painted two-tone deep red and cream white, near a bright white pinstripe and scrollwork where the colors met. Email me for pictures, if you'd like.
Another favorite paint effect is flames. I've see some very realistic looking flames using ginger and black airbrushed under a clearcoat. Ghost flames are nice too...very subtle, sort of a shadowy silver outline over a black or night blue.
Another bike that really made me ooh and ahh was a Yamaha cruiser painted black with realistic-looking airbrushed lightning - SWEET!
My current bike is a 2002 VTX 1800S beside the factory burnt-orange color. It sat on the showroom floor for 3 years because no one think about buying an orange bike - but everywhere I progress, I get compliments on the color. I can send you a photo of this one too, if you'd close to.
I don't know if any of these are the right one for you - but I hope you're inspired to go really wild and take home your bike your own!
Keep the shiny side up!
