Should I buy a salvage titled bike?

the dude said that he was going around a corner and dropped it and scratched up the fairing and have to get a untried rotor and brake for front and insurance salvaged it out. its an 03 gsxr for $3500 it have 5k miles on it. he rides it every day to work and say there is zilch wrong with it, no engine sprain or anything, just that when something resembling that occurs insurance doesnt want the headache and responsibility if something go wrong later so thats why they salvage it out. what do you guys have a sneaking suspicion that?

Honda cbr900 engine pandemonium?

my son bought a Honda Nighthawk this spring that had a salvage title, it be a great buy,
mechanically it be fine, just the cosmetic repairs would enjoy cost more than the ins company was likely to pay so they "totaled" it.
Bear within mind, you buy it for less, but it is also worth smaller quantity when you sell or trade it.
If you plan surrounded by keeping it and you are certain it have no structural or mechanical mess up, I say dance for it.

What could be the grounds of backfire...

Answers:    My husband buys salvage bikes and rebuilds them for resale as a hobby. (He get new parts cheap on eBay.) In demand to get a salvage title changed into a rebuild title, the county has to convey someone out to inspect it. You can get some great deal on rebuilt bikes, but as others hold mentioned, buyer beware. My hubby is a mechanical swing, and been working on bikes adjectives his life, so he's a apposite judge of extent of sprain. Rebuilt titles here in KY also catch a discount on yearly property taxes--you income only 25% of the regular rate! I would bring someone out to look at it, but if the guy's be riding it for 2 years it's probably ok. The most expensive part of a sport bike to the insurance company are the fairings. Brand unsullied, they can be hundreds of $ each--and that's what the ins goes on, since they don't shop eBay. That's why cruiser bike ins is so much cheaper, within addition to smaller quantity torque on the low gears.
