Suzuki gs850 electrical problem?

i just put within a new battiery turn the knob lights come on hit start button nothing happen. any clue what the problem is or at leat where to start? gratefulness

A problem I have once was dirty contacts within the start switch. The bike had be stored outdoors and the contacts filmed over. Check for power at the starter solenoid beside the button pushed in. If power, the switch is ok. Check the substantial wire from the freestyle to the solenoid and the one from the soleniod to the starter for clean, tight connections. You should own power on the wire from the battery-operated at all times. If the start switch is suitable, and you have power within to the solenoid but not out of it the solenoid is bad. It may be possible to short the two huge posts with a screwdriver (watch for sparks!). If the starter turns, the solenoid is discouraging.
