I am about to purchace a bobber with soaring handlebars - nothing drastic about 14-16" rise. Just considered necessary to check what was your experience riding a bike with such dimensions and how did you resembling the ride. What would you consider a comfortable handlebar height? Thanks!
its really up to you but glorious handlebars are old school,which dont receive me wrong i do like, but it will get uncomfortble after awhile and you can experiance posterior problems from them. in which i do know alot of people beside those problems
The problem near ape hangers is that your hands be in motion numb if your hands are above your shoulders after awhile.
It's okay if you don't plan on going for a real long ride.

I like to push my bike from time to time and ape hangers do not really allow for important body weight distribution(i.e getting up toward the tank to put more cargo on the front wheel).
If you're just going to cruise around ,there is not really a down side to apes.
BTW, concerning hands getting numb, that can happen whether one's bar are tall or low.
All anyone can really tell you, is try them out ,if you don't similar to them ,replace them.

Answers: I prefer a taller bar over stock. I own some pretty badly damaged shoulders (don't ask) and low bar really start them hurting after a couple of hours. My '07 Ultra (peace officers edition) came beside low bars, and they kill me. It be simple to change to taller bars on my FXDWGI ('06 Dyna wide open glide) and my shovel, but this Ultra is gonn be a bear. In fact, the dealership wishes $1200 to do it if I supply the bars. I am very unconfident to do it myself, even though I do most of the work on my bikes myself. With the fairing, a huge number of wires to splice in and feed thru the contemporary bars, pulling the tanks to gain to the clutch and throttle cable to replace with the new ones etc etc etc, I am not sure my shoulders will hold up for it.
Anyway, Back to your press, 16" apes are comfortable (to me) but I'm just under 6'3" I know a great deal of guys that prefer the 14" bars because the taller ones put their arms to sleep. 18" bars are killer on anything but a short ride.
My best advice is sit on the bike first, and see if it works for you. It's not practical to sit within for an hour, but sit as long as they will let you!! and keep your hand in the postion you ride in.

I ride near TT type bars, but have ridden bikes beside "Ape Hangers". I own a 1999 Heritage Softail Classic and I put 18" apes on it about a year and a half ago. It took me a couple weeks to really gain use to them, but now, every bike I ever own will have them. I made me sit more adjectives which almost eliminated any back misery, even after my 600 mile trip to GA.I love them, I rode my brothers 2005 Road King on Saturday, & I couldnt wait to park it. Its all stock, but I feel uncomfortable.Give it a couple week, think you will resembling it.ape hangers look cool, but I think nearby dangerous! Hard to handle.
