Tire size ask?

ok i know its been asked since but im getting ready to buy strange tires for my ninja zx6r and the recommended size for the rear is a 160, but wouldnt i be putting more rubber down if i bought a 180? It also seem though that more rubber would slow me down in the corners. how much am i truly gaining here from the origional size to a 180? im 5'9" and 145#s. thx.

Dirt bike help out!?

Go near Stick it. When you put a wider than stock tire on, the wider tire ends up with more of a point to it. You might procure a little more tread on the ground, but merely at Valentino Rossi like lean angles. Go beside a wider tire only at the guidance of someone who you can trust to know what they're talking give or take a few. I think Ama is dictum with a big cavernous tire you get more traction surrounded by straight line acelleration lately cause here is more tread on the ground. But with wider at hand is more resistance to leaning. I still enunciate with a wider tire you would necessitate a wider rim to work right.

I want to turbocharge my cbr 1100...

As you go up surrounded by size you loose handling as you can see below, but you will leave a larger foot print for added traction. however you will also lose transition speed next to a wider rear. these are how they work for the 750 and 1000's. Your 600 will gain cargo and give up agility next to the wider tire but give more grip contained by corner. Your torque really isn't a concern so i personnaly would stick with the orginal size since within really isn't any performance gain, due to lost torque surrounded by heavy acceleration next to regard to tiller spin in corners such as on the bigger brothers.

Front120/70/17 – Rear 200/50/17 Greater amount of torque to be applied surrounded by straight line acceleration as compared to the other 3, however least possible amount of cornering capabilty due to side wall size

Front120/70/17 – Rear 190/50/17 Average amount of torque can be applied without tire spin, however for inexperienced riders you may not know how to get the bike adjectives the way over within corners with out excergerated intiatiation, but it is the tire of choice for race and the liter bike class due to the amount of horsepower and torque applied to the wheel

Front120/70/17 – Rear 180/50/17 Usually stock on your 750 and 600 class, however give greatest amount of handling especailly in big speed turn to turn type courses, not preferred on liter bike do to the fact of their is to much horsepower and torque and you would any be spinning the tire excessievly. Which would lead to premature tire wear and loss of speed do to shortage of traction.

If I was you i would step with the 190 and practice near that as you get the grip and the conduct with out giving up to much handling. Either bearing you'll never be able to roll on the throttle to intricate with a 750, or 1000 class contained by the corner with out braking the tire free. Essentialy your foot print is in the order of the size of a hockey puck.

A Rear 200/50/17 is a complete loss of corner and would greatly decrease the bike handling, unless your ridning surrounded by a stragiht line, but sport bikes execute there best surrounded by the corners that's what makes a great rider from and average rider how close can you catch to the edge of the tire shows your plane of skill. hope this helps.

Were near any British 4 cylinder bikes...

Answers:    My 600r have 160 on rear and tried putting on a 180 doesn't fit right. I would stick near the 160.
