It is against the law to ride on scrub land you stipulation the owners permission to do so. clubs hold site as do most trail bike shops..
Gas-Gas Beta are both loverly but for the novice can be one hell of a brute. torque is massive and comes surrounded by right at the start.
do it on the cheap, look for a cheap chinese import that won't event if you bin it or break a few bits of plastic.
Run it till it needs an mot or through repair and sell it for spares or repair.
preserve it legal stick to the official routes. consider buying a bike trailer and towing it to an area that have routes with loads of little red crosses contained by a line..
