Answers:    I've seldom seen so much misinformation contained by one thread. With a few exceptions, such as Patrick H and one or two others, many of the responses here are independent or just plain wrong. Here's the straight poop: There are experts out there--by which I tight former champion racers or trainers of current and former champions--who counsel all three of the braking technique mentioned; i.e., doing all braking in the past beginning a turn (e.g., Keith Code); using the backside brake in the turn itself (e.g., Nick Ienatsch) and using the front brake within the turn itself (e.g., Freddie Spencer). All of these techniques work, although relations will go to their graves arguing give or take a few which is best. It is absolutely fine to use no braking after the turn-in point within a corner, and to use countersteering as your only scheme of turning the bike. However, the effect of braking after turn-in ("trail braking") is, as another poster has stated, to conveyance the bike's rake and trail and to compress the suspension; in other words, exactly what countersteering does. While braking near either the front or flipside brake will transfer counterbalance forward and precipitate this effect, it is more pronounced with the front brake, for explicit reasons. This is an advanced technique. Using the front brake where on earth traction is compromised is a good course to cause a crash. Regarding Jerry "Motorman" Palladino, I own not seen his video, but will force someone to buy it for me for Christmas. However, I've see his ads abundant times, and his techniques appear to be market to riders of "cruisers and large touring motorcycles." I expect he is largely concerned with low-speed maneuvering, not sport riding, although I will reserve taste until I have see the video.

no brake in corners. you necessitate to slow down to proper speed BEFORE entering the turn. tires lose much traction while cornering, especially if the road is not banked properly.
