What is a power group?

hi all, i have simply got a yz80 1990 for my first bike i'm 27 but am only 5.4 its only just the right height for me. Because i thought it would be a lot slower than a 125cc for me to revise on but when you open it up it flys and i struggle to keep the front tiller down. My mate says its the power band can anyone share me how this works. also any help with how to verbs of at speed smoothly without stalling would be good.

What bike is more reliable?gsxr 1000 or...

The power band is the rpm scope where the engine makes it's best power. how to verbs off at speed smoothly will come with practice and relationship with your bike.

Your YZ has a high power to substance ratio, meaning it's so light, it doesn't lug much power to lift the front wheel stale the ground when starting off.
Lean as far forward as you can and still be in control when taking stale.
The added weight of your body on top of the front of the bike, will serve to keep it down.
If you've ever seen a motocross see, that's how all the riders wait at the starting takings waiting for the flag to drop.
They lean so far forward, it looks like they're kissing the front fender LOL
Hey Goldy,

Some good direction above and may I add (I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but...) you don't enjoy to open it up all the mode! The throttle goes both ways, and you don't have to be for always on the throttle or the brakes.

Be your own man and ride how you feel comfortable, if a rolling burnout on a litre bike is considered dumb and a waste of rubber, what do you dream up it looks like on a yz80?
The power band is the RPM list where the bike makes the most power. Some bikes hold the power increase abruptly in a spot on RPM range, which makes them harder to control.

the only means of access you will be able to take stale without using powerband is by keeping your revs down, you have to swot the point just before it stalls, powerband is particularly common in most two stroke engines in particular motorbikes, if you think of a v8 when the secondaries open up it puts you pay for in your seat, pretty much equal but two strokes just rev that much harder. just examine your revs, you'll get it and embrace the feel of the power.

As some of the writers touched on, your power band is something that is repeatedly misunderstood. Alot of people, especially new riders and kids, devise that your power band is something like a subdivision or piece of the motor. It is not, the word power band is simply just that, a word. All motors (dirtbikes, tractors, prairie mowers, even the Model-T) have a point where they produce their best (often call peak) power. Usually for a bit of time across the RPM range. This is your "power band".

If your goal is to progress as fast as possible (as in most motorsports), next it would be very important to be aware of when your motor is making its best power. Therefore, racers developed the occupancy, power band. This is one of my biggest pet-peeves, people mis-using and misunderstanding what a power decoration is.

Every motor built has its own, unique power belt. As an above poster mentioned your 2-stroke YZ80 motor is going to turn enter the powerband like a switch, either on or bad. This is because 1) its a small displacement motor, which means there is smaller number reciprocating mass that needs to sped up or slowed down. And 2) its a 2-stroke, which manner it cycles quicker, producing a fast, high revving motor. The combination of these two things will throw the motor into the power strip as soon as you open 'er up. This is why the front wheel is jump around on you.

My advice to you as far as keeping the front wheel down ; Try to move your body cargo forward, closer to the gas tank when cracking her wide-open. This will result in the back-wheel losing traction and releasing punch that way, instead of through your front wheel.

As far as a smooth launch go, this is just practice. However, if you find yourself getting nervous, do what I mentioned above, except you can do it to an extreme because your not however moving. Damn near sit on the gas tank if you want. This will allow you to pretty much drop the clutch near the motor wide open (not that I would support that) without the bike pulling a huge wheelie on you. Enjoy your new bike! Those little 2-strokes are really individual in the way they breed power, and can be alot of fun!

You must be light counterweight too. Power band is the RPM's the engine needs to turn to produce maxium power and it starts where on earth max torque is made, up to max horsepower. Like 3,800 rpm's to 5,000 rpm. 2 stroke engines turn on like a switch when they enter the power band. Your lately going to have to learn merely the right amount of clutch slippage and RPM for launching. And the bigger more powerfull motor you can get and handle for your subsequent bike. 80cc is a very small motor.

i have a 2001 cr125 with the stock red powerband. i have a HP yellow one but it snapped and they werent in stock so i get a red one. yellow is more snappy while red gives you more lower cessation power. while orange is best all around and works great beside race engines. if u were gonna win a new one i would get a blue one. they enjoy a snappy mid and top end. good luck.
