Why are handlebars on sportbikes angled inwards?

I have been riding dirtbikes my unbroken life. Looking to get a streetbike this summer...what I can't deduce is why sportbikes have the handlebars angled in towards the rider and not straight resembling a dirtbike? Is this a more comfortable position? I would think it would be harder to control. Maybe I should just run with the SV650 with the straight bar.

its both for comfort and stabilization to force you closer to the tank and lower the center of gravity.

2 cycle engine oblige?

Answers:    the clipons (handle bars) can be rotated to fit you how you like it. but the SV 650 is a great first street bike. especially since you have previous motorcycle experience. simply remember all of the people you ride within the dirt with are motorcyclists the same cannot be said for 99% of the citizens on the road the first rule of street riding is.. if the guy in the saloon is trying to kill you or does not see you

by tucking within the riders position in it improves aerodynamics. If you stick one knees out it decreases speed considerably. Notice that the pros change theri position when braking.
