When I hear one come by, it is deafening! I despise that! Why make them so loud!? I close to Kawasaki!
Answers: some people of late like clamour. Others, like myself, similar to an exhaust system that is louder than stock, but not so loud it offend neighbors or acts resembling a cop magnet. Bikes are dangerous at any time. In 41 years of riding I can't count the number of general public who changed lanes into the side of my bike because " I never saw him". SO, beside my louder than stock pipes, they Hear me and don't have to see me. Also, I picked up more horse power and better gas mileage when I changed them out. But at hand IS a fine line between polite louder sounding pipes, and offensive hurts the ears roars.
They don't come close to that from the factory. An exhaust system modification is the first extra a biker will add to his hawg. They also don't come from the factory skilful of a top speed of more that about eighty miles an hour. Modifying that to top out at 120 or better is the second "improvement" a guy will build to his new gadget. It's all more or less image, man - adjectives about carving.
Any suggestions for well-mannered ladies motorcycle riding...
