To me the CGI was virtuous but the dialog was hella lame.
Answers: As previously stated, the production companies jump on every comic book license they could, after the MONUMENTAL success of Spider-Man. So they get the contracts, actors, and a production squad, but as with most of them (the luminary exceptions being Spider-Man, and X-Men) they forgot the screenwriters, and regularly strayed from what made the comics so good...
The intention they made it was because Spider man did so ably they thought hey lets be paid a movie from anther comic book
