I have no problem personally driving and discussion on a cell phone as long as you can drive without a problem. however, I find these GPS dashmounted systems distracting not only to another vehicle because they're so bright and perceptible, but it makes me wonder why it's ok for someone to be looking at a moving map while driving and not ok to have a conversation near your cell phone in one ear. Am I missing something? One is like first showing up a map and reading it while driving and the other is like talking to a passenger within the car without taking your eyes rotten the road. NO more distracting than drinking a beverage and driving.
Honestly...some people have no trouble beside them and don't find them distracting. They listen to it more than look at it. But others? They really need to sit with it, read the damned book it comes beside and learn it BEFORE installing it in their motor and using it. On a holiday and endangering others, no less.
Both are distracting and nation who think that they can drive while distracted aren't really good drivers, as a passenger, hence spectator, I feel both should be banned.
I don't know how frequent times I've almost been hit by some fool on a cell phone. One, just finishing week, almost got me because he was within a left turn lane but went straight while he be jawing on the phone. The GPS ought to be outlawed as well.
