OK i was jogging along a dogmatic country road and a car came speeding around the corner consequently slammed his brakes on, i was running on the lefthand side of the road and he demanded that i stop and let him get on, there was a ditch on both sides of the road and i couldn't climb into them but if he stopped i could put your foot around his car. If a pedestrian MUST walk contained by the roadway, then you should always wander on the side of the roadway facing oncoming traffic, but that does not GIVE you the right of way.
The reason for walking on the side of the road FACING traffic, is so you can see the sports car coming and step out of the way if necessary.
