Answers:    Firefighters maintain their "lifeline" with them. I've be a volunteer firefighter at my home in Arkansas. Now I'm a Chief Engineer onboard a Mississippi River towboat and have to go to a Coast Guard approved firefighting institution. The one rule every firefighter lives by is you go within with a hose and come out by the hose. Keep a foot on the hose and it leads you out of the hot stuff. The rescue guys that don't use hoses follow a different rule. When visibility get reduced you keep a mitt on the wall. You don't leave the wall! You don't want to pilfer away from looking for other victims by others having to come look for you. They sweep out into the room near their axe or something but only go off the wall to grab someone and drag them straight put a bet on to it!
