Long distance near a standard shift?

if driving with a standard shift do you hold to stop the car every few hours to rest? so the clutch wont burn out ??

Answers:    No you're fine. Long distance driving is awfully good for a clutch, because you don't use it! The clutch with the sole purpose wears when you're shifting gears.

Oh, one piece though. Make sure your foot is TOTALLY OFF the clutch petal, totally completely. Whenever your foot is on the clutch pedal, even slightly, a small bearing call the "throwout bearing" has to spin. It's not made to spin more than a few second. It should last the life span of the car, but you can wear it out prematurely and later need a more serious clutch go back to the beginning than usual. For that same reason don't hold the clutch within at stoplights or anytime. Shift to neutral instead.

I dont think so i drove 12 hours only rest be for gas and one right before a big hillock so the car it self would not overheat.
