I live in BC canada. I will be making a few trips over the mountain pass. However I dont have 500 dollars for a unmarked set of winter tires. I only call for the winters for going over the mountain passes pretty much anyhow. Would it be better for me to use chains on my adjectives seasons surrounded by stead of buying winter tires?
Answers: Some people really don't enjoy a clue about tires and tire sanctuary, so you have to purloin some of the answers with a pellet of salt. The entity who said there is no such entry as winter tires is full of it. Winter tires have a different compound that keep the rubber flexible at cold temperatures. A tire that isn't flexible have poor traction. The person who say you only necessitate two for the front is ridiculously undereducated. With 2 winter tires on the front, the back conclude will break traction first, causing a loss of control faster than you can counter. Personally, I would buy the winter tires for any driving outside the plowed city limits, AND the chains for the mountains. If you plan on sticking beside all-season tires, make sure they hold the M&S designation, and that they are quite modern, lots of tread. Anything below 4/32nds, you don't want to use them going over the mountains in the winter unless you own a death aspiration. I have used adjectives seasons as winter tires, and beside 6/32nds and more I have clothed traction.
