Should here be a ruling?

that requires motorcyclists to wear helmets?

I ride, and always wear one. Most of the associates I ride with don't...and I can't twig that.

I don't think it should be a canon, you can't legislate common sense.

Answers:    No, here shouldn't be a law. As you said, you can't legislate adjectives sense. I'm glad to live in a state that still have freedom of choice. Many wear a helmet by choice. I do quite repeatedly, but have the alternative of not when I feel resembling it. There are many arguments in relation to the protection a helmet affords, it is hard to find agreement. There is also the other side of the coin, where on earth a person may choose not to wear one as they do not want to hold their neck broken, be confined to a wheelchair, or matter with anything machinery may be required to sustain a less than typical life.

Another means of access of looking at it: when you ride you make a choice concerning your natural life and limb. If you want not to wear a helmet, you are only making a further choice surrounded by the same admiration.

Furthermore, regarding insurance: My medical insurance is indistinguishable wether I ride or not. Helmet or not. Same premiums, same benefits. My motorcycle insurance also provides not just for me, but anyone else involved be they my passenger, or the worker or passenger in another vehicle. Helmet or not. Those who claim increased premiums due to motorcycle riders enjoy no idea what they speak.
