It sounds like a good imperative, but I still don't like the government relating me what to do either,so I'm on the fence on this fussy issue then
no they shouldn't but they do
Don't misunderstand me, I think seat belts are a right idea, and that they save lives. I wear my form belt, but the government has no business mandate their use. You can't outlaw stupidity!
No. Mandating safety issues infringes on our rights. It also created an effect of invinceability. People have helmets on and they deem they are invinceable. Same with safety belts. They will drive faster and embezzle more risks than they would otherwise. Also, the claim that it will safe the government money by not have to pay for peoples medical expenses who are hurt in sports car accidents is false. I say this because, where on earth does it say in the constitution or otherwise that the parliament, or society in general, should be responsible for paying for peoples medical expenses?
The reason the Gov't is wanting to make this tenet is because the lawmakers feel we are not smart adequate to protect ourselves.

The government should not interfere so much in people's personal choices and personal lives. State tenet (at least in NY) say it's mandatory to wear a seatbelt. This is a concerted effort to make money (issuing violation tickets) along with insurance companies.
...Seat belts are often, but not other safe. I had a friend who would own died in a car crash have he been wearing his. On the flip side, there are plentiful people who have be in accidents who would hold died, had they not been wearing one... It should be up to the individual to agree on on one's own well-being. Everyone knows driving a vehicle is one of the most dangerous things you can do. Common sense say "buckle up."
A lot of state governments are regulating seat belt use. At first, I be opposed to it. Now that I've gotten used to using the seat belts, I don't mind it.
Everyone know, it is the right thing to do, but there are seriously of hard headed society out there. I was one of them, even after have an accident that nearly cost me by life.
I've finally come around, and agree that adjectives persons should be buckled into the car. If it take a law, then so be it.
flawless luck -- drive safe.
Gee. Have you been contained by the USA Lately? The Federal Government has ALREADY mandated form belt use, buy forcing the individual states to pass seat belt law, or loose federal highway funding.
"Freedom" is meaningless if it doesn't include the freedom to make bleak choices.

Answers: Which govenment is that?
If the government can accumulate some money by saving your life, after sure. If you are in an accident lacking a seatbelt and you become parylized, the government now have to pay you disability.
I don't much mind the government unfolding me to use a seatbelt, but I do mind when they start legislating morality.
