WALNUT - A woman who was lethally struck Friday by an out-of-control school bus may hold saved her toddler second before the twist of fate.
Andrea Lorena Meza, 31, of Walnut died at the scene after tossing her 2-year-old daughter to safety.

The child Meza have been cradling within her arms was apparently intact. The mother lived just blocks away, line members said.

The fluke occurred at 2:42 p.m., purely as C.J. Morris Elementary School was letting out for the time, authorities said.

"Witnesses told me she threw the 2-year-old from her arms, she knew she be going to get hit," said Ed Meza, Lorena's brother-in-law. "Her finishing act be to save the time of her 2-year-old daughter."

California Highway Patrol officials initially said that Andrea Meza tossed the toddler aside newly before she be struck. After further investigation, officials said they be unsure what exactly happened.

After the catastrophe, the baby be found beneath the bus unharmed.

Andrea's 8-year-old daughter and two nephews be walking with the woman when the disaster occurred. None of them be injured.

"The 8-year-old is in shock, watching this evolve in front of her eyes," Ed Meza said.

The bus apparently careened raging in the school's circular driveway. It jump a curb and ran over the object before smashing through a chain-link barrier and coming to rest on a concrete parking block.
