Have you noticed some times that only just after passing a traffic muted a trailer truck may get to an almost complete stop ? Maybe it is simply my imagination or maybe here is a rationale behind this. As they other drive safe, this may be one of their sanctuary procedures..

Answers: They are probably downshifting. That is why it is folly to tailgate a big rig. Stay clear and hand over them the room they need to maneuver soundly.
I drove trucks in Army convoys and I be amazed at what automobile drivers would do with explicit disregard for their own safety. We finally have to spread the trucks out at 500 foot intervals to keep from crushing idiots who required to get between us. I remember surrounded by Kuwait when a driver took on an Army 5 ton with a Cadillac. The 5 ton won and the driver be crushed to death.
