And your point is? Satellites pickup location on the planet whether you're below sea smooth or in the sky.. as far as street by street directions, that's an entire different story. Answers: They work pretty well in a pane seat, if allowed. It always amuses me when a GPS is prohibited (due to potential RF emission?) while laptops (notoriously bad in jargon of the RF noise) are allowed.
Of course, I don't think I'd want to be caught messing with a GPS while on the plane.
