It is a nice vehicle for single person, safe and hanging with two side wheels.
With how our communities are setup (in the US) it would be enormously difficult to incorporate the Segway as a road vehicle.
Problems include:
Carrying objects, such as groceries, or items for work (backpacks, computers, etc)
Keeping up speed with high velocity vehicle.
Weather. Rain, snow, ice, cold, etc.
Familys. Can't really travel with the family unit on a Segway.
Travelling long distances. The Segway battery is good for one and only so long, and in my area, the average commute is 35 minutes contained by a car.
